Spirit Beast Taming Guide

This guide is based on my experience hunting the Spirit beasts. Everyone has their own experience with the Spirit beasts. Spirit beasts are still very sought after. Since every realm in the old content has been merged together its even harder to find your share of the Spirit Beasts. But believe me when I say, with dedication and patience you will get there!
So for those dedicated hunters out there, I decided to make this guide to help people along with their hunts.

This guide is made in 6.1.2 and currently up to date.

Getting started :

Remember that Spirit Beasts are exotic pets, and can only be tamed by Beast Mastery Hunters. You can not use the Spirit Beasts if you change your specialization!

When you start your hunt make sure you are prepared.
That means :

-You have the Beast Mastery spec and have it active.
(You cant tame spirit beasts on any other spec since Beast mastery can only let you tame exotic pets)
- Free pet slots
- Time to camp
- Patience
- Have hunter tracking (BEASTS) on.
-NPC Scan

All Spirit Beasts are not aggressive that means they are yellow collored and wont attack you when you walk passed them. That also means they are easier to recognize on your mini map when you have hunter tracking active.

Its always good to know when the last tame or kill was before you start camping. Don't be afraid to ask in General chat when the last kill or tame was of the Spirit Beast you're after!

Northrend

Loque'nahak
Level : 76

Spawn timer : 6-24 hours

In my opinion Loque was one of the hardest Spirit Beasts to get. Just because he is still is really sought after.  And the spawn locations are pretty distant from eachother.

Yes, Loque is a HE. I heard many fellow hunters claiming that Loque is a she because he is the mate of Har'koa. So Har'koa is apperently the one thats female.

My first Loque'nahak tame ,I've gotten from a hunter that was trying to tame him and couldn't. He was a Marksmanship Hunter. As Marksmanship hunters can't tame Spirit Beasts, as I explained to him and he let me tame it. Thank god, since he could've just killed him
Loque'nahak walking freely

There are really no certain ways to tame Loque, just tame him and make sure you have no pet active, because your pet will most likely one hit him.

Loque'nahak spawns in Sholazar Basin and has alot of spawn points :

Where to camp
There are 3 locations that are close to eachother, and are also the locations where Loque most commonly spawns :
My advice is to stay at the middle spawn point and do small rounds every 10-15 minutes. And do big rounds every 30-45 minutes, Flying a big round all around the map takes around 5 minutes.

Loque spawns in Sholazar basin along with 2 other rare hunter pets  :
- King Krush
- Aotona
There are rumors going around that Loque shares the timer with King Krush. But that is just a myth so dont let that confuse you before you start camping or during camping.

Skoll
Level : 80

 Spawn timer  : 8-16 hours

Skoll can be found in The Storm Peaks. In my opinion one of the best looking Spirit beasts.
Skoll is easily snatched away by people who are camping the Time-Lost Proto Drake. Since many people believe in the fact that 3 rares can only be up at the same time in Northrend, he's killed pretty fast when he spawns.

Skoll at Bor's
 Where to camp

Skoll is mostly located at Bor's Breath and North of Brunnhildar Village. The one at Bor's Breath is also the one where people mostly camp for the Time-Lost Proto Drake. I do recommend you to camp at Brunnhildar's Village, since there are 2 locations with 2 spawn points next to eachother its up to you to chose the most efficient place to camp.

If you want a shot at the Time-Lost Proto Drake while you camp I'd say go for Bor's Breath spawn point. If you're only there for Skoll alone, take Brunnhildar's Village or the Spawn points south of Snowdrift Plains. Don't forget to fly along  spawn points every now and then.

 Gondria
level :77

Spawn timer: 6-20 hours

Gondria spawns in Zul'drak and has 5 diffrent spawn points. Gondria's color makes it pretty hard to spot in this snowy area so make sure you have your hunter tracking on.
You don't have to do anything special before taming her and she isn't really as sought after as Arcturis and Loque'nahak anymore so if you are on a slight low population realm you're probably the only one camping her.

As you can see, Gondria blends in a little bit to well in the snowy enviroment

 Arcturis
level :74

Spawn timer:6-72 hours

  Mount Hyjal

Make sure that you have done the questline in Mount Hyjal before you decide to camp here! If you haven't done every single one of them you won't be able to see the rares and you will be camping for nothing.
Ain't nobody got time for that!

Ban'thalos
Level : 85

Spawn timer : 6-17 hours

Ban'thalos is one of the 4 hunter challenges in Mount Hyjal. This Spirit beast can certainly be a challenge if you don't know what to do!

Ban'thalos flies up high in the sky. He flies in circles around Sanctuary of Malorne.

Ban'thalos flying in front of me

This tree doesnt make you reach him YET. But you can mount up on this tree, fly up a little bit until he's in you range and cast a distracting shot on him.

So the best way is to create a macro for this certain trick.
-macro here-

The steps are :
1. Go onto the top of the tree.
2. Mount up
3. Press space to fly up until he's in your range(preferably a bit higher since theres still time between your actions)
4. Dismount
5. Use the macro
 6. Start taming

When you fly up the three and you found the steady spot on it do NOT move when you fly up to cast a distracting shot on Ban'thalos. If you dismount and you miss the tree you might die and lose your tame on Ban'thalos!

This all should be fairly easy but you still need to know how it works.
Ban'thalos does not share his spawn timer with the 2 other Spirit Tigers Ankha and Magria, who also spawn in Mount Hyjal.

Magria
Level : 85
Spawn timer :6-17 hours

Magria is also one of the 4 hunter challenges in Mount Hyjal. Before you where able to reach level 100 you needed to take off you gear in order to tame this beauty.(they hit like a truck!) Now, when you're taming at level 100 you don't have to bother taking off your gear since she wont have enough damage to kill you.

Magria shares a spawn timer with Ankha, which means that either Ankha or Magria spawns and not at the same time. So if you have either one already, you'd have to be patient and wait to see what the next spawn will be!  There is not much known about who spawns when. It can be either Ankha that spawns for days in a row, or Magria that spawns repeatively.

When you decide to realm-hop to see if either Ankha/Magira has spawned, don't bother. Because it seems that if Magria/Ankha spawns on your server she spawns on all the Cross Realm Zone's.

Magria and Ankha do NOT despawn after 15 minutes. I saw plenty of people spreading this rumor about these pretties and I decided to test it out myself. I've waited for over 45 minutes on both Magira and Ankha and they do not despawn!
Maybe this was the case back in the Cataclysm days but this is not a fact anymore. So don't let this rumor scare you off!

Where to camp

As you can see Magria and Ankha have multiple spawn points.
